Artist note: "This painting went through many lives and was “finished” several times. The hood as a monastic reference felt potent, as painters we live somewhat monastic lives. Slowly the placement of the hood shifted and my hair changed until it felt like it was suggestive of a tonsure - really doubling down on the monastic thing haha." _ Samuel Guy
